A SCHUBERT EXPERIENCE

Llyr Williams piano

In a very special event, pianist Llyr Williams

explores Schubert’s piano repertoire in two

concerts, with, between the concerts, a complementary talk: Schubert’s Piano Music – offering a deeper insight and discoveries about the music by BBC Radio 3’s Stephen Johnson.

Llyr Williams’ performances are widely admired for their musical insight, virtuosity and profound understanding. He is in the middle of a Schubert odyssey which he is presently recording, and this day features a selection of the sublime piano sonatas, as well as the Four Impromptus.

Llyr’s previous major project was two recent

Beethoven complete sonata cycles, the first one in the form of an epic two-week marathon during the Edinburgh Festival which won him the prestigious South Bank Show award.

He is the subject of two films produced for S4C the first of which won a Welsh BAFTA for Best Music Programme, whilst the second featured his Carnegie Hall debut.
