On 31st July, 2024, Alim was announced as the winner of the Critics' Choice Award for Young Talent (Piano). Their annual Young Talent Awards highlight the wealth of emerging talent across the country, and celebrate artists for whom 2023 was a notable breakthrough year.

Born in Kazakhstan in 1998, Alim’s early studies were at the Purcell School where he won several awards, including First Prize at the Junior Cliburn International Competition.
Since winning the 2021 Leeds Competition, Alim has built a highly successful career and has become a BBC New Generation Artist 2023-2025, playing regularly for BBC Radio 3 and performing at the Proms. He has performed in many international venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam Concertgebouw and the Chopin Institute in Warsaw.
