Miloš Milivojević - accordion, David Juritz - violin, Craig Ogden - guitar, David Gordon - piano and Richard Pryce - bass

The Quintet's programme will feature music by Astor Piazzolla, including his well-known Oblivion, Osvaldo Pugliese, Anselmo Aieta, Django Reinhardt, Isaac Albéniz, Agustin Bardi, Pintin Castellanos, Horacio Salgan, Feliciano Brunelli and the Quintet's own composer and pianist, David Gordon.

The London Tango Quintet is a unique group of five internationally acclaimed musicians performing tango music at the highest level. Music by the legendary Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla is interspersed with stunning instrumental solos, traditional tango and original works composed specially for the group. The result is an energetic, inspiring and thoroughly enjoyable concert of relaxed virtuosity.

David Juritz, the London Tango Quintet’s director, has brought together this exceptional tango quintet. “Craig, Miloš and I have known each other for years. Their diaries are pretty hectic but, a few times a year, we get together to play tango. It’s fantastic fun, even wild at times, but that’s not to say it isn’t challenging as well. To do it justice you have to approach it just as you would any other great music – with a sense of style and your total commitment, but also leaving enough freedom to experiment. When it happens you feel like you’ve been set free. It’s just exhilarating.”

London Tango Quintet's recording ‘Dancing with Piazzolla’ was selected as album of the week (w/c 15 April) on BBC Radio 3's Essential Classics and tracks are being played throughout the week. Here’s a link to one of the programmes https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001y2bs (listen from 3 hours in) and others from the week are also available on BBC Sounds. Georgia Mann is raving about it as one of her favourite recordings!
