I am delighted to announce the appointment of Jane Elliott and Terry Lipscombe as new Trustees, adding to the range of experiences and interests we have within our team.
The current Shropshire Music Trust team, pictured from left to right, are Jane Elliott (trustee), John Moore (Artistic Director), Katy Rink (trustee), Jane Povey (Chair), Terry Lipscombe, Roger Terry and Chris Stephens (trustees), as well as trustees Andrea Belloli and Caroline Jones, who are not shown here.
Terry has been a supporter of Shropshire Music Trust for many years. He stresses the importance of providing access to top-quality music and musicians of all genres, which the Trust brings to the county: “As a retired solicitor with some experience of higher education, I recognise that the Trust’s increasing connection with schools is hugely important, particularly since funding for musical education has been so reduced,” he says. "”I am very pleased to be able to give time to support its mission of not only providing wonderful concerts but also reaching out to communities and schools.”
Jane, who has professional experience in project management and information governance in clinical research, is an enthusiastic amateur musician and committed to supporting live music in Shropshire. She says: “I am keen to see SMT thrive and further develop its key objectives of educating and delighting its audiences.”
Beyond the Trust's core programme of concerts, we are looking to grow our reach through collaborations with music promoters around the county as well as through outreach into educational, health and care settings. We are looking for people interested in helping us with these ventures, so please do get in contact if you would like to find out more:
One of Terry’s responsibilities will be looking after our invaluable community of supporters who contribute to our funds and/or volunteer to enable the work of the Trust. Terry will be in contact with you all over the coming months. If anyone else would like to become involved, please contact him via
To our SMT community, which includes our loyal audiences, supporters, musicians, trustees, our wonderful Artistic Director John Moore and all who bring our offers to life, thank you for your ongoing enthusiasm and engagement. I look forward to sharing the forthcoming events.
Dr Jane Povey, Chair
